Koku Anyidoho to personally congratulate Mahama on victory

Executive Director of the Atta Mills Institute, Koku Anyidoho, has expressed his intent to personally congratulate President-elect John Dramani Mahama and his Vice President-elect, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, on their electoral victory.

Speaking on Adom TV’s Kokromoti Power on Monday, December 9, 2024, Anyidoho emphasized his cordial relationship with Mahama despite previous public perceptions of discord.

He dismissed claims of personal animosity, stating that their interactions remain respectful.

Mr Anyidoho attributed Mahama’s victory to a combination of factors, including voter apathy among the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) base.

He acknowledged that the election results, which saw Mahama securing over 56% of the vote and more than 188 parliamentary seats, were part of Ghana’s democratic evolution.

When asked about the possibility of joining Mahama’s administration, Anyidoho refrained from giving a direct response.

He asserted that contributing to national development does not necessarily require holding a political appointment, adding that his current role allows him to support Ghana’s progress effectively.

He also urged Mahama to honour the legacies of past Presidents, drawing inspiration from outgoing President Akufo-Addo’s efforts in preserving national heritage.
