How NPP’s ‘order from above’ landed me in prison – Medikal alleges

-

Ghanaian rapper, Medikal has shared a heartfelt appeal to President-elect John Dramani Mahama following the NDC’s electoral victory.

Medikal, in a tweet, alleged that the now opposition New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) governance was full of intimidation, for which he appeals to the NDC to set itself apart.

He referenced how he was a victim of such intimidation when he was detained and imprisoned at the Ankaful Maximum Security Prison in 2023 for unlawful display of firearm.

He alleged that, his arrest was politically motivated, with his lawyers receiving the dismissive explanation that it was an “order from above.”

“NPP arrested me for no tangible reason, NPP put me in cells, locked me up in jail (Ankaful Maximum security prison) all in the name of power. My lawyers tried to communicate with superiors and all they got in response was ‘it’s an order from above’ ”

In view of this, Medikal said he is optimistic Mahama’s government will not abuse their power.

Though he stated that he does not trust Mahama, the rapper said he is choosing to believe in him to transform the country, particularly for the youth, who hold the key to a brighter future.

He pleaded with Mahama fervently to restore hope and glory to the Ghanaian people and not betray the mandate they have given to him.

“Let this new change be exhibited drastically! If not for anything, he should foresee the generation of Sharaf, ‘a good friend of mine (His Son) and the betterment of the youth in Ghana and beyond”.

Also, Medikal was quick to clear lingering suspicion of being politically bias, as he indicated that he does not affiliate with either of the two major parties; NPP and NDC.
