President-elect John Dramani Mahama has formally conveyed his election victory to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, during the final Akwasidae Festival of 2024 at the Manhyia Palace.

He sent a delegation led by former Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Samuel Sarpong, who delivered the message of gratitude and reassurance.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sarpong conveyed Mr. Mahama’s appreciation for the Asantehene’s prayers and support, which he credited as instrumental to his victory in the 2024 general elections.

“Today is the last Akwasidae Festival. This morning, Otumfuo’s son; the incoming President, called and directed me to represent him here. Mr. Mahama asked us to express his profound gratitude to the King, as it is by his prayers that he has emerged victorious,” Dr. Sarpong stated.

The President-elect also reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling his promises of development in the Ashanti Region, pledging to prioritize the region in his administration’s agenda.

The event, rich in culture and tradition, underscored the strong ties between political leadership and traditional authority in Ghana.
