There is no definite time for Kofi Kyereh’s return – SC Freiburg coach

-

SC Freiburg head coach, Julian Schuster has revealed that there is no set timeline for the return of Daniel-Kofi Kyereh, who has been sidelined with a long-term injury.

Kyereh, 29, has been recovering from a cruciate ligament tear sustained nearly two years ago following his transfer from St. Pauli.

Speaking ahead of Freiburg’s clash with Hoffenheim last week Saturday, Schuster highlighted the need for patience as the player works his way back to full fitness.

“Kofi still has a way to go,” Schuster said. “When you’re out for a long time, it’s all about general fitness. His recovery has shown positive signs, but it’s a process that varies for every individual.”

The coach refrained from offering a definitive timeline for Kyereh’s return, stressing the importance of prioritizing his full recovery.

Schuster acknowledged the challenges of predicting Kyereh’s return: “Given the duration of the injury, it’s hard to set a definite timeframe. Our focus is on ensuring he fully recovers before stepping back on the pitch.”

Kyereh made an impressive start to his Freiburg career after joining in June 2022. He quickly left his mark, scoring his first Bundesliga goal against Mainz on October 1, 2022.

The injury also ruled Kyereh out of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast, a significant blow for Ghana as they missed his contributions on the international stage.
