Baba Sadiq’s position in limbo amid Okaikwei Central election drama

-

Entrepreneur-turned-politician, Baba Sadiq remains resolute despite conflicting reports regarding the outcome of the Okaikwei Central parliamentary elections.

Hours after polls closed, Sadiq declared victory, citing his collation figures showing he secured 21,303 votes (52% of valid votes) against NPP incumbent Patrick Yaw Boamah’s 18,951 votes (47.08%).

However, contrary reports from some media outlets projected a win for the NPP candidate, suggesting Patrick Yaw Boamah garnered 20,229 votes, edging out Sadiq, who reportedly received 18,783.

Addressing the controversy, Baba Sadiq dismissed the projections as baseless media blitz as he questioned their source and credibility.

He asserted that his numbers are grounded in the verified pink sheets from polling stations and remain a true reflection of the electorate’s will.

“I insist we have won and are confident in the numbers we have as attached. Hon. PYB should be magnanimous enough to accept defeat and save a little of his reputation as a three-term legislator,” Sadiq stated emphatically.

The apparent discrepancy in results has left the constituency on edge, with both camps awaiting a formal declaration from the Electoral Commission to settle the debate.
