Adamu Ramadan defeats Akosua Manu to retain Adentan Constituency

-

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Adentan Constituency, Mohammed Adamu Ramadan, has become the first Member of Parliament (MP) to successfully retain the seat since its creation in 2004.

Ramadan secured an emphatic victory in the 2024 parliamentary elections, polling 56,303 votes to defeat the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Akosua Asaa Manu, who garnered 35,143 votes.

Although his vote count fell short of the 63,436 votes he achieved in 2020, Ramadan broke the constituency’s long-standing “one-term MP” trend.

His initial win in 2020 saw him unseat NPP’s Yaw Buaben Asamoah, who had polled 49,255 votes.

Since its establishment out of the Ashaiman Constituency in 2004, Adentan Constituency has seen four MPs, none of whom managed to secure consecutive terms until now.

In his victory address, Ramadan expressed gratitude to NDC supporters and constituents for their trust and hard work.

“This is a historic achievement in every sense, and I am deeply thankful to everyone who contributed to this success,” he said.
