Newly-elected Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon (AWW), John Setor Dumelo, has vowed that the constituency’s parliamentary seat will remain with the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
This follows his groundbreaking victory in the fiercely contested race.
Dumelo declared that he would guard the seat reclaimed after 28 years of NPP dominance, diligently.
“We have sent the elephant back into the bush. It will never come outside again. We have taken back our seat, and we will guard it fiercely,” Dumelo told a jubilant crowd of supporters.
Expressing heartfelt gratitude to his constituents, Dumelo promised to work tirelessly to make Ayawaso West Wuogon thrive.
“I dey for you, and together, we will make Ayawaso West work again,” he assured.
In the just-concluded election, Dumelo secured 40,561 votes, while his closest contender garnered 27,377 votes. Independent candidate Abdul Rauf Mumuni received 189 votes.
The actor-turned-politician celebrated his party’s victory in a constituency long considered an NPP stronghold, describing it as the result of four years of relentless effort and determination.
Dumelo urged his supporters to draw inspiration from his journey and “never give up”.
