The Electoral Commission has reiterated that the declaration of final results for the 2024 general elections follows a legal process enshrined in law.
In a press briefing on Sunday, December 8, 2024, Samuel Tettey, the Director of Electoral Services, explained the detailed process at the National Collation Centre.
“From the polling stations, the pink sheets are sent to the Constituency Collation Centres where they are collated. The Constituency Results Summary Sheets are signed by the Returning Officer and the Party Agents, who receive copies of the form. A copy is then posted at the Constituency Collation Centre.”
Mr. Tettey further clarified that the results are sent to the Regional Collation Centres, where they are also collated publicly in the presence of party agents, who sign and receive copies.
A copy of the results is posted at the Regional Collation Centre.
“From there, the results are sent to the National Collation Centre via fax. Upon arrival, the results are again collated in full view of party agents, who receive copies. The results are posted at the National Collation Centre as well.”
Once all procedures are completed, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, who serves as the Returning Officer for the Presidential Election, will declare the winner of the presidential race.
