Dorcas Affo-Toffey retains Jomoro seat

The incumbent Member of Parliament for Jomoro, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has successfully retained her seat with a decisive victory, garnering 25,349 votes.

Her closest competitor, Paul Essien of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), secured 14,195 votes, while Nana Blay Mienzah of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) received 306 votes. Independent candidate Samia Yaba Christina Nkrumah polled 8,065 votes.

The total number of votes cast was 48,597, with 719 ballots rejected.

Affo-Toffey, who became the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Jomoro in August 2019, won with 1,324 votes, representing 87.4% of the total votes cast during the NDC primaries.

Her competitors, Akatia Kwaidoo and Nda Blay Armah, received 188 votes (12.4%) and 4 votes (0.2%), respectively.

In the 2020 parliamentary elections, Affo-Toffey emerged victorious with 24,356 votes, representing 55.5%, defeating Paul Essien, who had 19,889 votes, representing 44.95%.

Since January 7, 2021, Dorcas Affo-Toffey has served as one of the 40 women in Ghana’s 8th Parliament and the only female MP representing the Western Region.
