2024 polls: Cynthia Morrison loses Agona West seat

Member of Parliament for Agona West, Cynthia Mamle Morrison, has lost her parliamentary seat in the 2024 general election.

Madam Morrison, who ran as an independent candidate after losing the NPP primaries, garnered 7,160 votes, falling far behind the main contenders.

The seat was won by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Ernestina Ofori Dangbey, with 26,080 votes.

Arthur Christopher, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, placed second with 20,693 votes.

The total valid votes in the constituency’s parliamentary election were 54,593, with 660 ballots rejected.

In the presidential race, NDC’s John Dramani Mahama won the Agona West constituency with 30,525 votes, defeating NPP’s Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who received 21,387 votes.

The total valid votes for the presidential election were 54,595, with 1,431 ballots rejected.
