Voting delayed at Mempeasem CMB polling stationĀ

Voting at the Mempeasem CMB polling station in the Sunyani West Constituency of the Bono region has been delayed in the ongoing 2024 election.

As of after 1:00pm, no voter has been able to cast their ballot, causing frustration among early voters who arrived at the polling centre expecting a smooth process.

Joy News’ Emmanuel Gyan reported the situation was due to the swapping of pink sheets for the polling station with another.

An NDC constituency officer, Nana Baffour contended that the process cannot start until the issues with the pink sheets are rectified.

Through the efforts of the Electoral Commission(EC) Deputy Returning Officer, the issue was resolved with the process expected to commence smoothly.

However, technical difficulties with the activation of the Biometric Verification (BV) machine also set in.

The device according to Emmanuel was unable to verify the voters.

But the EC officials and the party agents were willing to find alternative solution so the voting process could start.

However, the EC Returning Officer did not state if the voting time will be extended at the polling station given the challenges that occasioned the delay.
