-

The Akyeamehene of the Akyode Traditional Council, Nana Sey Mireku, has called on journalists to prioritize accuracy and exercise caution in their reporting during the upcoming elections.

He emphasized the critical role of the media in maintaining peace and stability.

Speaking at a pre-election gathering in the Oti Region, Nana Mireku expressed concern about the potential for misinformation and sensationalism to disrupt the electoral process.

He reminded journalists of their responsibility to verify facts before publication, stressing that truth and accuracy must take precedence over speed.

“Misinformation can spark unnecessary tension. I urge all media practitioners to thoroughly cross-check their facts to ensure their reports contribute to peace, not chaos,” he stated.

In his address, Nana Mireku also appealed to the youth to resist any attempts by politicians to influence them into engaging in activities that could destabilize the country.

As part of the event, the Akyeamehene poured libation and offered prayers for peaceful elections, calling on the ancestors to guide and protect the nation during this critical period.

The Akyeamehene’s remarks come as tensions rise across the country, with various stakeholders calling for calm and responsible behavior ahead of the polls.
