Nigerian music star Inetimi Alfred Odon, better known as Timaya, has opened up about his reasons for staying unmarried at 44, even though he shares four children with three women.
Speaking in an interview with Naija FM, the “Dem Mama” hitmaker revealed that marriage has never been a priority for him, but he doesn’t rule it out in the future.
He attributes his decision to his quest for peace of mind, which he values above all else.
“I have never been a marriage kind of guy right from time, but it can change,” he admitted. “If I marry today and the girl disturbs me, I can get out of the marriage. In all my previous relationships, I was the one who got out because I don’t like stress. If you have a problem with me, let’s talk about it. I don’t like going to bed thinking about things.”
Timaya, who has three daughters and a son, also spoke candidly about fatherhood.
He described it as both a challenging and rewarding experience, but important to maintain a strong bond with children.
“Being a father is very good but stressful because you love them too much,” he explained. “They all live with their mothers, but when I want to see them, I tell their mothers. They spend two to three months with me and go back to their mothers. During Christmas, they also stay with me.”
Despite not adhering to conventional family norms, Timaya expressed contentment with his life, balancing his role as a father with his personal values and lifestyle.
