NDC PC calls for IGP’s intervention over alleged soldier deployment in Nkawkaw

-

Parliamentary candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Nkawkaw, Frederick Obeng Somuah, has raised concerns over the alleged deployment of 15 soldiers to the constituency ahead of Saturday’s general elections.

According to his intelligence, the presence of the soldiers is unnecessary and should be addressed by the Inspector General of Police (IGP).

Speaking to Adom News correspondent Akwasi Dwamena during the special voting at the Nkawkaw Central Police Station, Obeng Somuah remarked that Nkawkaw is currently peaceful and does not require military presence during the elections.

He called on the IGP to intervene and ensure that the soldiers are removed from the area.

However, the assistant secretary for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Nkawkaw, Nana Amoah Frimpong, has denied the allegations.

He clarified that the soldiers had been deployed to a mining company in the area and, upon arrival, reported themselves to the police command.

Frimpong dismissed the NDC’s claims as false, urging the public to ignore the accusations.
