Former Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Tamimu Issah has expressed his belief that the Black Stars’ challenges extend beyond technical matters.
The senior national team’s technical staff, led by Otto Addo, has faced intense criticism following their failure to secure qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The team’s poor performance during the qualifiers has sparked widespread calls for the dismissal of the coaching team.
However, Issah argued that focusing solely on technical shortcomings oversimplifies the Black Stars’ problems.
He emphasized the need for a comprehensive approach to address deeper, systemic issues affecting the team.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Sports Nite, Issah questioned the narrative that coaching is the primary problem, noting the frequent managerial changes the team has experienced in recent years.
“I don’t think the issue with the national team (Black Stars) is technical alone,” Issah said.
“How many coaches have we changed over the past five years? There are other factors we need to look at as a nation,” he added.
Ghana’s disappointing campaign saw them finish at the bottom of Group F, earning just three points from three draws and three defeats.
