The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has pledged commitment to safeguard the integrity of the 2024 election.
In this regard, the OSP says it has deployed its anti-corruption mandate to prevent, control, and address fraudulent and unfair practices during the election process.
In a statement, the Office cautioned that all election officials involved in vote counting, collation, and the transmission of results that any attempt to falsify or misrepresent the vote count will be treated as a serious offence.
“The OSP admonishes all officers charged with the counting of votes at polling stations, collation centres, and the transmission and publication of the outcome of the elections that it is a grave offence to willfully falsify the account of the votes or make a false return of the votes,” the statement read in parts.
The OSP noted that immediate action will be taken against any individual or group found attempting to undermine the electoral process.
“The Office is alive to its mandate and would promptly address any such occurrence which comes to its notice,” the statement added.
Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency and New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate, Lydia Seyram Alhassan was earlier in the day captured sharing food packs to participants of the Special Voting exercise.
It cannot be immediately established if these constituents to the OSP’s stated offences.
