Engr Wonder Davor elected new President of IET-GH

The Institution of Engineering and Technology Ghana (IET-GH) has elected Engr. Wonder S. Davor as its new President.

His election was finalized during the organization’s recent Annual General Meeting held from November 22–23, 2024, at the Shippers Council in Accra.

Engr. Davor will officially assume office in December 2025, succeeding Engr. Henry Kwadwo Boateng, for a two-year term.

A Well-Planned Transition

As per IET-GH’s constitution, a new President is elected a year in advance to understudy the incumbent, ensuring a seamless transition.

To this end, the Electoral Committee advertised the vacancy in October 2024, receiving applications from four distinguished candidates:

1. Engr. Prof. Mike Acheampong Agbesi – Council Member, 2nd Vice President, and Chairman of the Environmental and Petrochemical Division.

2. Engr. Dr. George Eduful – Council Member and Chairman of the Electrical Division.

3. Engr. Wonder Salami Davor – Council Member and Chairman of the Civil Division.

4. Engr. Dr. Dr. Surv. Ebenezer Ankomah Gyamera – Central Regional Representative.

Election Results

The election, certified by the Electoral Commission of Ghana, was keenly contested. The results were as follows:

Engr. Wonder Salami Davor: 293 votes (36.72%)

Engr. Dr. George Eduful: 221 votes (27.69%)

Engr. Prof. Mike Acheampong Agbesi: 195 votes (24.44%)

Engr. Dr. Dr. Surv. Ebenezer Ankomah Gyamera: 89 votes (11.15%)

In his acceptance speech, Engr. Davor expressed gratitude to members who supported him and extended an olive branch to his fellow candidates, emphasizing unity and collaboration for the advancement of IET-GH.

A Rich Professional and Academic Background

Engr. Davor currently chairs the Civil Engineering Division of IET-GH and serves on the Public and International Affairs Committee of the Engineering Council of Ghana.

He is also a member of the Publication Committee of the Ghana Chamber of Construction Industry (GhCCI).

His prior roles include: Chairmanship of the Publication, ICT, and Library Committee of IET-GH, Secretary to the Batabi Church Collapse Investigation Committee, Secretary to the IET-GH Constitutional Review Committee, Chairmanship of the Research Committee for the Building Code and Regulations Committee.

Academically, Engr. Davor is pursuing a PhD in Material Science and Engineering at the University of Ghana.

He holds an MSc in Construction Management from KNUST, a BSc in Civil Engineering from KAAF University, and an HND in Building Technology from Accra Technical University.

Extensive Leadership and Industry Experience

Professionally, Engr. Davor has accumulated significant experience, including roles as:

Technical Officer, Physical Planning Department.

Municipal Engineer for West Akim and Kwaebibirem Municipal Assemblies.

Director of Works for Denkyembour District Assembly.

He has also served as Vice President of the Local Government Engineers Association of Ghana (LoGSEA).

A Leader Rooted in Service

Beyond his engineering accomplishments, Engr. Davor is deeply involved in his community.

He is an Elder in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Akwatia and an Executive Committee Member of the Diamondfield Ghana Conference of SDA.
