Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum has emphasized that the Executive Council remains committed to improving football in the country, despite the Black Stars’ failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Black Stars’ inability to secure a place in the tournament has brought intense criticism upon the Executive Council, with many football fans calling for their resignation following the team’s poor performance in the qualifiers.
Speaking to Joy Sports, Asante Twum reassured the public that there are no intentions among the Executive Council members to step down.
He stressed that their focus remains on enhancing the state of football in Ghana.
“None of the Executive Council members have whispered to me any plans of resignation after Black Stars’ failure,” he said.
“They are highly focused on improving Ghana football,” Asante Twum added.
Ghana finished at the bottom of Group F with just three points from six matches, registering three draws and three losses.
This marks the first time in 20 years that the Black Stars will not participate in the AFCON tournament.
