Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has criticized former President John Dramani Mahama, describing him as lacking understanding of economic issues and unfit to manage the country’s affairs.
Dr. Bawumia’s remarks came in response to Mahama’s claim that he left behind a robust economy, which he alleges has been mismanaged by the current administration.
Speaking to a massive crowd in Koforidua, Dr. Bawumia dismissed Mahama’s assertion, accusing him of misleading Ghanaians about his economic record.
The NPP flagbearer argued that under Mahama’s leadership, there were no significant social intervention policies to benefit Ghanaians.
He touted the achievements of the current administration, highlighting improvements in education, healthcare, and infrastructure development, including schools, hospitals, roads, and rail systems.
Dr. Bawumia also pointed to the government’s economic growth rate, asserting that it has been higher during his administration compared to Mahama’s tenure.
Addressing the Free Senior High School policy, Dr. Bawumia urged Ghanaians to be wary of the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) promise to review the policy.
He accused the opposition of being inherently against the initiative and said their stance has not changed despite their claims to improve it.
The NPP candidate called on voters to reject the NDC at the polls, insisting that the country’s progress hinges on the NPP’s continued leadership.
