In a troubling turn of events, a 23-year-old farmer, Kwame Amela, has gone missing after accompanying his uncle to a farm in Adumadu in the Krachi East Municipality of the Oti Region.
The young man’s disappearance has raised concerns among family members and the local community, prompting an urgent search for answers.
The mother, Ama Abakoni, told Adom News that Kwame left the house on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, and has since not returned.
Ama Abakoni recounted that the suspect, Yaw Pani Kwadwo, sent his wife to call Kwame so they could go to the farm together.
Concerned about her son’s safety, she went to the suspect’s house later in the day to ask about his whereabouts, but the wife claimed they had not returned.
However, Yaw Pani returned home around 10:00 a.m. the next morning, but without his nephew. Upon returning to the house to inquire again, Yaw threatened her with a cutlass, leaving her in fear.
The visibly shaken mother, fearing for her son’s safety, lodged an official complaint at the Tokuroanu Police Station, prompting a manhunt.
A team from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) was dispatched to the community and accompanied to the farm, but there was still no sign of the missing young man.
The distraught mother has called on the police authorities to do everything within their power to find her son.
Kwame’s younger brother noted that he was very excited about the farm trip. He added that community members have rallied together, organizing search parties to comb the surrounding areas to find him or any clue that can assist in investigations.
Essoreke Pakisse, the Assembly Member for the Adumadu Electoral Area, who was not in town when the incident happened, has met with Kwame’s family to discuss the way forward.
