The Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof. Richard Kofi Asiedu, says the party is united for victory in the 2024 elections.
According to him, the region is no longer a swing region but a stronghold of the NDC, though they will be “generous” and allow the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to retain four seats.
Prof. Asiedu made this statement on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, vowing that the NDC is poised to win no fewer than 18 parliamentary seats on December 7.
With the NDC currently holding 13 out of the 23 seats, he said their target is to win at least six more seats in the upcoming election.
“We have targeted 20 seats in the Central Region and will not win less than 18. We are going to take back six seats the NPP won in 2020.
“There are some four seats we won’t really be bothered if the NPP wins, so out of pity, we will let them have them,” he stated.
Prof. Asiedu noted that the voting dynamics in the region have changed, and the people will vote wisely based on their living conditions.
“It was our fault the NPP won some of the seats, but we have corrected all wrongs. The people of the Central Region have learned their lessons because they now know the NPP is a mafia party and not for the Fantes.
“Gone are the days when the NPP used to share rice, oil, and t-shirts to get votes. People have now assessed their lives and will vote accordingly; they know this government hasn’t helped them in any way,” he said.
Meanwhile, the NPP Secretary, Richard Takyi Mensah, has vowed that the party will snatch all seats in the region, leaving none for the NDC.
