Sudan Assistant Coach, Ignatius Osei-Fosu, has declared his interest in taking over as head coach of Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars.
Osei-Fosu, who worked alongside former Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah, played a pivotal role in guiding Sudan to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Sudan secured their place alongside Angola from Group F, while Ghana finished third with just three points after six matches.
In an interview with 3Sports, Osei-Fosu expressed confidence in his readiness to step up to manage the Black Stars, crediting his growth and tactical insight to his time working under Kwesi Appiah.
“I think I need to learn more from Kwesi Appiah. But if he says, ‘Ignatius, you’ve been with me for one year now, and the Black Stars are calling you, I think you’re ready,’ I will take the job because tactically, I am capable of handling the Black Stars,” he said.
Despite Osei-Fosu’s candidacy, Otto Addo, who was unable to lead Ghana to AFCON qualification, is expected to remain as head coach.
