Ghanaian musician Safo Newman has revealed that he has been advised by some people to use illicit substances to boost his confidence on stage.
According to the Akokoa hitmaker, despite such suggestions, he remains steadfast in staying true to himself and his principles.
“People have actually recommended that I should do some of these things [drugs] so that I will go wild [on stage]. I won’t be doing that. I don’t think I can do that,” he stated on Hitz FM during a conversation about public criticism of his calm demeanor on stage.
In the interview with Andy Dosty, Safo explained that many people struggle to accept his introverted nature, as they fail to recognize the diversity in people’s temperaments.
Since rising to fame earlier this year with his song Akokoa, Safo has faced heavy criticism for his sense of fashion and perceived dullness during stage performances.
However, he acknowledged his commitment to improving in those areas while continuing to produce music that not only entertains but also provides thought-provoking content.
Safo Newman, who has other popular songs like Miss Issabela, Sorrow Fly, March Past, and All the Way, is currently promoting a peace-themed track titled NPP, NDC.
