2024 Election: ‘You trust Bawumia at your own risk’ – Afriyie Ankrah to Ghanaians

-

A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Manifesto Committee, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, has expressed doubts about the feasibility of campaign promises from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

In his view, Ghanaians are trusting the Vice President going into the December 7 election at their own risk.

In an interview on Accra-based Channel One TV, the former Minister of Youth and Sports proposed a critical analysis of these promises to ensure voters make informed decisions.

Mr. Ankrah cited Bawumia’s proposed introduction of a flat tax rate, the removal of the e-levy, the safeguarding of public finances, and the significant expansion of road infrastructure.

Accusing the ruling government of not fulfilling promises made to Ghanaians, he stated that Bawumia’s policies lack credibility.

“You trust Bawumia at your own risk. This is someone who, together with Nana Addo [President Akufo-Addo], made a litany of promises which remain unmet,” he said.

He emphasised the need to scrutinise political promises to avoid the risk of misplaced trust in leaders with a track record of unfulfilled expectations.
