Mahama accuses NPP and EC of plotting to rig the election

The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has accused the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) of conspiring with the Electoral Commission (EC) to manipulate the outcome of the December 7 general elections in favor of the NPP.

Speaking at a mini rally in Sekondi, Western Region, on Tuesday, November 26, Mahama alleged that the EC had engaged 65 NPP members as part of its temporary staff for the elections in the Gomoa East constituency, Central Region.

According to Mahama, these individuals, reportedly card-carrying members of the NPP, were recommended to the EC by an NPP Member of Parliament and party executives.

“This development confirms our suspicions of a coordinated effort between the EC and the government to skew the election results,” he stated.

“I have seen a video from Gomoa East showing a recording where an NPP MP and his executives submitted the names of 65 party members to an EC official who approved them. If such individuals oversee polling stations, can we expect a fair election? This is why we’ve consistently raised concerns about collusion between the EC and the NPP, and now we have evidence from Gomoa East to support our claims,” he added.

Mahama urged Ghanaians to remain vigilant and ensure transparency during the polls.
