The eighth edition of the “Anwamoo Festival” has been held with with a clarion call on Ghanaians to patronise and promote local rice.
The event was held on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at the Legon City Mall.
It sought to showcase, encourage and boost support for local rice, farmers and te economy at large.
Speaking to Adom News, the Organizer, Jojo Kobina, said Ghana rice has been a long time favourite among many, but some still opt for imported varieties.
“Choosing Ghanaian rice not only benefits our health but also strengthens our economy and supports local farmers,” Kobina added.
The celebration was themed “Wear Ghana Edition,” which highlighted various aspects of Ghanaian culture, including traditional attire and local delicacies.
Mr. Kobina also appealed to the government to support Ghanaian rice farmers and sellers to assist them in packaging their rice for export, to attract consumers’ attention and boost the economy.
“Ghanaian local rice is nutritious and should be protected,” he said.
Many people turned out for the celebration while vendors who showcased various Ghanaian foods during the event expressed their appreciation to the organizers.
They praised the festival’s efforts to promote local products and foster a sense of national pride.
