Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has commended his team’s resilience and mental strength following their crucial 2-0 victory over Aduana Stars in the Ghana Premier League.
The win, which took place on Sunday at the challenging Nana Agyemang Badu Park in Dormaa, marked a much-needed turnaround for the Porcupine Warriors after four consecutive losses.
The victory not only restored their confidence but also pushed them to 7th place on the league table with 18 points.
Speaking after the game, Coach Ogum emphasized that the result was more about the team’s mental fortitude than tactical strategies.
“It’s about self-confidence; it’s about determination. Playing in Dormaa has nothing to do with tactics; it has something to do with the confidence of the team, the determination of the team, the aggression of the team, and I think the calmness of the team,” Coach Ogum continued.
He also pointed out that maintaining composure was crucial in such a high-pressure environment.
“If you look at the way we played, we were very calm because I know the venue to be an aggressive venue, and if you come aggressively, it wouldn’t help,” he added.
With this morale-boosting win, Asante Kotoko now shifts focus to their upcoming clash against rivals Hearts of Oak in the Matchday 13 fixture of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.
