The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, along with the Police Management Board, designated Sunday, November 24, for a nationwide visit to churches to advocate for peace before, during, and after the December 7 elections.
While addressing the congregation at the Church of Pentecost in Accra New Town, Dr. Dampare urged the church to persist in praying for peace.
However, he emphasized the importance of complementing prayers with actionable efforts.
He called on the public to support the police in maintaining security, law, and order, aiming to make the 2024 general elections the most peaceful in Ghana’s history.
“We have come to express our gratitude to all of you as we prepare for these elections. The way we have allowed ourselves to be used by the good Lord to conduct ourselves so far has resulted in a peaceful process.
“So far, nothing adverse has occurred, and the peace we are enjoying during this election period is unprecedented. This is all thanks to the Lord’s mighty hand on our nation and our willingness to be vessels for His purpose.”
