The presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama, has promised to upgrade New Juaben from a municipality to a metropolitan status to boost infrastructural development in the area.

In addition, the former president has assured of constructing a modern market similar to the popular Kejetia market built by his government.

According to Mahama, upgrading the area will bring about significant change in its development.

“I thought when they recently elevated some Assemblies, they would have elevated Koforidua too. If God permits and the NDC wins, we will elevate Koforidua to metropolitan status so that we can mobilize resources to improve road infrastructure and increase development.”

“When we were in government, we constructed asphalt roads. Some have deteriorated, but when we return, we will fix them.”

“Koforidua market is a very big market, and when we return, we will build a new one for you, just like the Kejetia market,” he assured.

He added that his government would mobilize enough resources to develop the project and attract businesses to the area.

Mr. Mahama has been on a five-day campaign tour of the Eastern Region. He began his tour in the Nsawam Adoagyiri constituency, where he addressed a large crowd of NDC supporters.
