NSA board chairman calls for Otto Addo’s sack after AFCON qualifier failure

-

The Board Chairman of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Seth Panwum, has called for the immediate dismissal of Ghana’s coach, Otto Addo, following the Black Stars’ disappointing 2-1 loss to Niger in their final Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday.

The defeat marked the end of a dismal AFCON qualifying campaign for the Black Stars, who finished at the bottom of Group F with just three points, failing to secure a spot at the upcoming AFCON tournament in Morocco.

In an interview with Angel FM, Panwum expressed his dissatisfaction, stating, “Otto Addo must be sacked because he was given a performance contract and he has failed to perform.”

Ghana’s AFCON qualifiers began with a 1-0 loss to Angola, followed by a 1-1 draw against Niger. In a doubleheader against Sudan, the team drew 0-0 at home before suffering a 2-0 defeat away. In the final round of matches, they managed another 1-1 draw against Angola before losing to Niger.

The Ghana Football Association’s Executive Council is set to meet on Wednesday to review the team’s poor performance in the qualifiers and determine the next steps.
