A 23-year-old man, Appiah Kwasi, has allegedly been stabbed to death with scissors at Bepoh near Appiatse in the Prestea Huni Valley Municipality of the Western Region.

The incident occurred on Friday, November 15, 2024, during a school gala competition grand finale between Ehyireso Methodist JHS and Bepoh D/A JHS at the Ehyireso Junction Park.

A misunderstanding ensued between the deceased, who was from Ehyireso, and the supporters of Bepoh D/A JHS over a penalty awarded to Bepoh D/A JHS, which equalized the score to 1-1 in the second half.

However, Ehyireso Methodist JHS won the match in a penalty shootout.

Following the controversial win, one of the suspects from Bepoh, popularly known as D-Black, stabbed the deceased several times with scissors during the brawl in the park.

Appiah was rushed to the Ehyireso Nkwanta Health Centre but was later transferred to the Bogoso Municipal Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The body has been deposited in the mortuary at Bogoso for preservation and autopsy.

Meanwhile, the Prestea Huni Valley Municipal Police Command has arrested D-Black, the prime suspect, and his accomplices. Investigations into the incident are underway.
