Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouattara has called on supporters to show their backing for the team in their upcoming match.
The Phobians extended their recent resurgence with a hard-earned 1-0 victory over Karela United on Sunday at the Aliu Mahama Stadium during Matchday 11, with Hamza Issah scoring the match’s only goal.
In a post-match interview, Ouattara emphasized the significance of fan support, saying, “What I have been telling the fans every time and everywhere I go is that each game we play is for them. If the fans are happy, we are happy.”
“We need them to come for the next game in numbers to encourage the team—not just on Facebook or social media, but physically at the stadium. Their presence matters.”
Ouattara also acknowledged the positive impact of fan support on his young squad, which is striving to make its mark this season.
“Today, we had students who came to support us, and it made a difference. To win every game, we need that kind of support. Hearts of Oak is a team where expectations are high. We win, we win, we win, and if you lose, there’s a problem. Don’t wait for problems to come before showing support. Be there for this young team to help them go far.”
The win against Karela United marked Hearts of Oak’s third consecutive victory, propelling the team to fourth place on the league table.
Ouattara will be hoping to maintain this strong form as the Phobians face Nsoatreman FC in their Matchday 12 clash at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on Friday, November 22, 2024.
