At a graduation ceremony for 30 new tailors and dressmakers, all of whom were female, the association highlighted that many young men now prefer riding pragia (tricycles) as a quicker means of earning income rather than committing to learning a skill like tailoring.
The association emphasized the importance of reviving interest in tailoring among males to ensure a balanced and sustainable workforce in the fashion industry.
They also encouraged the new graduates to start their businesses immediately, even with limited resources, to contribute to the industry’s growth.
Efforts are ongoing to promote tailoring as a viable and rewarding career path for the youth, especially males, in the Goaso area.
