Former President, John Agyekum Kufuor, has admonished Ghanaians to fully participate in the upcoming December 7 general election.
He acknowledged that concerns such as voter apathy, economic hardship, and bad governance might lead some individuals to decide not to vote.
Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Kufuor stated that these reasons are valid; however, he emphasized that Ghanaians must exercise their civil right to vote.
“It will be better if you exercise your franchise because if you don’t vote, someone will. The most painful thing is if you don’t go out and vote, others will choose the leader you don’t want for you,” he said.
“So, we don’t have to exempt ourselves because of bad experiences or someone’s personality. We may end up with regret,” he urged.
He added that instead of allowing sentiments to dictate their decision, Ghanaians should go out in numbers to vote based on their living conditions.
