Vacant Seats Case: The Supreme Court verdict and related politics [Infographics]

-

Twenty-eight days after Afenyo-Markin approached the Supreme Court for an interpretation of Article 97(1)(g)(h) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, a ruling has been made.

The court found that Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin’s declaration of four seats as vacant was incorrect and unconstitutional.

This decision had briefly given the NDC a majority in Parliament.

There are no major errors. However, it might be clearer to change the phrasing slightly in the second sentence for better flow:

“The court ruled that Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin’s declaration of four seats as vacant was incorrect and unconstitutional.”
