Gomoa Central Independent Parliamentary Candidate, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A-Plus, has expressed no remorse over the chaos that broke out during a festival launch at Gomoa Lome on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.
Two people were injured after A-Plus allegedly pulled a pistol during the event.
A-Plus and his bodyguards are also reported to have assaulted several residents, while some were shocked with electric stun devices.
In an interview on Adom FM’s Naket Kasiebo, A-Plus neither admitted nor denied pulling the pistol at the ceremony.
However, he did acknowledge that his supporters mercilessly beat some residents, claiming they were followers of the incumbent MP and New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate, Naana Eyiah.
According to him, there were no regrets over their actions, and he stated that they would not hesitate to beat those individuals again if an opportunity presented itself.
A-Plus claimed the actions of his supporters were a reprisal attack against NPP supporters who had attempted to initiate an attack with cutlasses.
“We beat the people who we thought could deal with us mercilessly. They should have gone to the police station if they had an issue. They were the ones who wanted to pour water on someone who was delivering a speech and were also wielding cutlasses. We won’t be intimidated or frightened by their cutlasses,” he said.
“We will go to the town on Friday, and they can try again. I am not a pushover, but very brave,” he stated.
He further accused the incumbent MP of inciting violence due to the overwhelming support he (A-Plus) has in the constituency.
But he vowed that he will not back down and will face Naana Eyiah and her supporters squarely in his quest for victory on December 7.
