Ellembelle MP Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah has reacted to the unveiling of a statue of President Nana Akufo-Addo at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.
According to the MP, the statue of the President raises serious questions about his priorities and commitment to the people of the Western Region.
Mr. Buah, who is also the Deputy Majority Leader in Parliament, expressed his concern in a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency.
The statement read: “This extravagant display of self-aggrandizement comes at a time when the Region has been largely neglected, with pressing needs and concerns left unaddressed.”
It further noted that the government continued to take the Western Region for granted, calling the gesture a misplaced priority.
The statement added that the Western Region lags in terms of development, despite contributing significantly to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and urged the government to do more for the people.
