The Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana (CIIG) has held its 2024 Educational Conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Ho, Volta Region.

The event was held under the theme: “Operational Resilience in a Changing Environment: Leverage People, Processes, and Technology.”

Addressing members, President Solomon Amah-Kai Lartey said the theme was timely, as the demand for operational resilience has never been more urgent.

According to Mr. Lartey, recent global events—such as economic uncertainties, technological disruptions, environmental challenges, and unforeseen crises like pandemics and geopolitical tensions, as well as the deliberate destruction of vegetative cover and water bodies—have profoundly reshaped the landscape in which businesses operate.

He added that these dynamics test the adaptability and endurance of businesses, underscoring the necessity of a robust, well-rounded strategy that not only responds to disruption but also sustains ongoing performance.

“This brings true meaning to the adage ‘innovate or die,'” he said.

“The theme ‘Operational Resilience in a Changing Environment’ reflects the pressing need for organizations to endure, adapt, and thrive despite these uncertainties,” he noted.

Mr. Lartey explained that the CIIG Educational Conference and AGM (CEC24) sets the stage for discussions and insights on building lasting resilience, laying a foundation for understanding and action in the face of an ever-evolving business landscape.

He emphasized that at the heart of this theme lies a triad that forms the backbone of resilience: people, process, and technology.

He reiterated the position of the insurance industry, stating that they stand against the wanton destruction of forests and water bodies, which poses an existential threat to all of us and even our neighboring countries.

“We call on the government and all stakeholders to bring an end to the menace of illegal mining.”

He finally acknowledged the sponsors in various categories who have contributed significantly to making this conference possible.

On his part, the Chairman of the conference, Frank Oppong Yeboah, in an interview with Adom News, stated that the theme for the conference came at the right time for insurance companies to meet and deliberate on issues concerning the institute. He also applauded the team.
