Police pursue 2 tiktokers over claims on location of Salifu Amoako’s son

-

The Ghana Police Service has debunked viral social media claims, suggesting that Elrad Salifu Amoako, the 16-year-old suspect driver in the fatal East Legon accident, is not in custody at the Osu Correctional Centre.

The police have stated that Elrad has been in custody since the court order on Tuesday, November 1, 2024, and remains in custody as of Tuesday, November 8.

In a statement, the police labeled claims regarding his status as false and warned that publishing such misinformation violates section 208 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29), which addresses the dissemination of false information.

The state noted that investigators have identified two social media accounts associated with the circulation of these rumors: a TikTok account with the handle “prisywanlov1” and a Facebook account named “EmpressPapa A-Amigos.”

The police are therefore actively pursuing those behind these accounts to bring them to justice.

“We find it deeply unfortunate that a tragic incident resulting in the loss of two beautiful souls is being exploited in an un-Ghanaian manner to draw attention to themselves,” the police noted.
