Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has commended the Ghana Police Service for transformative changes in training and infrastructure under the leadership of Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony for the Police Academy’s Course 53 in Accra, the Vice President noted significant advancements within the service, including curriculum upgrades and practical improvements at the Police Training School.
He highlighted the impressive expansion in class sizes and enhanced infrastructure, remarking that these developments have made the academy’s environment both modern and attractive.
“With the unwavering pursuit of excellence by the IGP and his team, alongside support from the government and myself, the Police Administration has undertaken an ambitious transformation of the Training School. This place now looks truly remarkable,” he said.
The Vice President underscored the record-breaking intake of 430 cadets—the largest in the academy’s history—including 305 male and 125 female officers, surpassing the previous class of 344 cadets.
This expansion, he noted, offers greater opportunities for service personnel and reflects the growing appeal of the Ghana Police Service.
“The systemic reorientation and reforms initiated by Dr. Dampare continue to yield results that make me proud as Chairman of the Police Council. His visionary leadership is positioning the Ghana Police Service as a model of excellence in Africa and beyond. Ayekoo to Dr. Dampare and his team,” he added.
