The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Disciplinary Committee has issued a five-match ban to Hearts of Lions coach Bashir Hayford.
This decision follows an incident during the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season, specifically in the Match Day 7 game between Karela United and Hearts of Lions at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.
Hayford was found guilty of unsporting conduct toward match officials.
The committee’s findings indicated that Hayford verbally abused the officials, behavior deemed unacceptable under the GFA’s strict standards for respect and professionalism between coaches, players, and officials.
This action underscores the GFA’s commitment to maintaining a respectful and fair environment across all matches.
Along with the suspension, Hayford faces a GHC 5,000 fine as a financial penalty.
The GFA also warned that any future misconduct from Hayford will result in even stricter consequences, emphasizing its zero-tolerance policy on unsporting behavior in Ghanaian football.
