The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has issued a call to the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana, demanding the release of serial numbers for all printed ballot papers ahead of the December elections.
Former Minority Leader and Member of Parliament for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu, argued that having access to the serial numbers would enable political parties to monitor and prevent any unauthorized regional transfer of ballot papers.
This, he added, will ensure greater transparency in the electoral process.
The NDC campaign team raised these concerns during a recent campaign visit to Tamale South, where they were welcomed by a large crowd of supporters.
In his address, Haruna Iddrisu noted it is important to protect the integrity of the elections, urging the EC to prioritize transparency to prevent what the party perceives as potential rigging efforts.
Haruna Iddrisu’s stance was echoed by NDC presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama, who encouraged party members to intensify their campaigns.
He reminded supporters of the importance of vigilance and unity in securing a fair election outcome.
