The grand finale of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) 2024 was held at the New Examination Center, University of Cape Coast, featuring Mfantsipim School, Keta Senior High School, and St. Augustine’s College.

This year’s NSMQ took place in Cape Coast, often hailed as the citadel of education in Ghana. Historically, formal education in the Gold Coast began in Cape Coast with the establishment of the Philip Quaque School, the ancient capital of Ghana.

At the inception of the competition, the Central Region, hosting the event for the first time, kept its hopes high by chanting “host and win.”

The final contest featured two schools from Cape Coast competing against Keta Senior High School from the Volta Region. A closely contested match between Mfantsipim School and St. Augustine’s College ended with a narrow point difference: 47 to 46 in favor of Mfantsipim School.

Mfantsipim School emerged as the winners of the 2024 National Science and Maths Quiz, marking their third victory after wins in 2014 and 1999.

The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, awarded a total of GH¢60,000 to the finalist schools of the 2024 NSMQ. Each of the three schools received GH¢10,000, while their teachers (trainers) received GH¢5,000, along with an additional GH¢5,000 for the schools.

The Central Regional Minister, Mrs. Justina Marigold Assan, presented the cash prizes on behalf of Dr. Bawumia to the schools.

The contestants and schools received numerous prizes and awards for their outstanding performances.
