The Director of Communication for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, claims that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Volta Region is currently confused due to the NPP’s pressure ahead of the 2024 elections.
Mr. Ahiagbah made these claims at a press conference to refute allegations that people were bused in for the NPP flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s, recent tour in the area.
He stated that the Volta Region is experiencing an electoral renaissance led by its middle class and youth.
“Like the youth across the country, the youth of this region have embraced Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s fourth industrial-era programs and policies, which are designed to put the Ghanaian youth at the forefront of global competition for jobs, education, and business opportunities.
“The NDC is confused. They can’t understand what is happening in the Volta Region, which is shocking. However, as a Voltarian, I am not surprised because I believe the Volta Region will someday become a competitive electoral market,” he said.
He added that the NPP’s proposition for the Volta Region is an electoral partnership aimed at developing the area.
To this end, he appealed to Voltarians to support the NPP in winning the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections and to implement its Bold Solutions for Jobs and Business.
He stated that the NDC has taken the support of the Volta Region for granted, arguing that the NDC’s hypnosis of voters has brought nothing positive.
“Therefore, it is time to abandon this unproductive electoral partnership with the NDC because the region has not benefited. As their elders say, ‘vi de tae wo tsa atsi do.’
“The NPP is grateful to the Volta Region for its steady embrace of the party, and they expect to obtain threefold to fivefold the votes received in the 2020 presidential election, that is, between 300,000 and 500,000,” he noted.
