The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is urging Ghanaians to reject individuals who are campaigning based on religious grounds ahead of the December 7 election.
The flagbearer, John Mahama, has stated that such actions can disrupt the peaceful coexistence and cohesion that the country is currently enjoying.
The former President emphasized that the upcoming elections should not be about religious discrimination but rather about issues that will promote development and progress.
Speaking at a rally in Kumbungu, Mahama expressed concern over the increasing trend of some political figures campaigning based on religious affiliation, describing this as a serious threat to Ghana’s unity.
“The elections should be about the issues that drive development and prosperity for all Ghanaians,” Mahama stated, encouraging voters to prioritize policies over religious distinctions.
He further highlighted the NDC’s commitment to development across all regions of Ghana without discrimination, urging voters to recognize the party’s record of inclusive progress.
Mahama encouraged all Ghanaians to stand against religious discrimination in politics, underscoring the importance of unity as the nation approaches the polls.
