Five students from Mpraeso Senior High School, accused of raping a female student, have been granted bail of GH₵20,000 each with one surety by the Nkawkaw District Court.
Presided over by His Worship Isaac Agyei, the juvenile court has instructed the victim’s parents to arrange her transfer to a new school in Accra and to secure accommodation for her as part of measures to support her recovery and safety.
During the hearing, the accused admitted to engaging in sexual activity with the victim but denied using force, claiming the encounter was consensual.
The court has also directed the Social Welfare Department to conduct a thorough background check on the accused students, including home visits, with a report due in two weeks.
Additionally, the court ordered Mpraeso SHS to work closely with the police to locate three suspects who remain at large or to contact their parents.
The case is scheduled to reconvene in two weeks for further proceedings.
