The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has pledged to construct a state-of-the-art market in Savelugu, Northern Region, should he win the 2024 presidential election.
Mahama highlighted that the proposed market aims to invigorate the local economy by offering traders a well-organized, spacious environment, establishing Savelugu as a central trading hub in the region.
Addressing residents at a durbar in Savelugu on Thursday, October 31, Mahama urged the community to support the NDC in the upcoming elections, underscoring his party’s commitment to developing both rural and urban communities across Ghana.
“There are many initiatives in the NDC manifesto for Ghanaians. My sister, who just spoke, mentioned the Women’s Development Bank. We’ll establish branches of this bank across the country, including one in the Savelugu market.
“We will modernize the Savelugu market under our Market Enhancement Programme. When I pass through here on Market Day, the crowd shows the need for improvement. We’ll prioritize building a modern market to attract more traders to Savelugu.”
