Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has blamed a loss of concentration for their defeat to Legon Cities.
The Reds were stunned by the Royals 2-1 in an outstanding game on Wednesday night at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
Albert Yeboah broke the deadlock in the game for the home side before Albert Amoah equalized for the Porcupine Warriors. However, Abdul Rahman secured victory for Legon Cities after scoring in the dying embers of the match, ending Kotoko’s unbeaten start.
Reflecting on the game, Prosper Ogum attributed the defeat to a loss of concentration in the final minute.
“I think a slight loss of concentration accounted for our defeat. If you look at the two goals that they scored, it was just a loss of concentration,” he said.
He also added that even though the team lost its first game of the season, they need to forget about it and concentrate on the next task.
“It was an exciting game and a game of two halves. It was not the best way to lose, especially considering how we played in the second half. It shouldn’t have happened, but then it did. We just have to put ourselves together and move on.”
Asante Kotoko are currently second on the league table with 15 points and will face Heart of Lions in the Matchday 9 games at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium this weekend.
