The Ministry of Education is calling on parents to exercise patience as they prepare their wards, who are Senior High School (SHS) freshers, for their various institutions.
Kwasi Kwarteng, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Education, has stated that students are to begin the registration process on October 30, 2024.
Mr. Kwarteng, speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, assured parents that students will not lose their admissions if they cannot report on the specified date.
“But the most important thing for parents and all prospective students to know is that if you are unable to be in school and begin your registration process, you will not lose your admission slot. There is still an opportunity for you, particularly when academic activities have yet to start,” he said.
However, he noted that academic activities will officially begin on November 7, and it is therefore the Ministry’s expectation that all students will complete their preparatory processes by that time.
The Ministry had earlier announced that of the 563,339 results submitted by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), 553,155 candidates qualified for placement.
Of these, 447,698 (representing 80.93%) were automatically placed in one of their selected schools.
An additional 104,918 eligible candidates were unable to be matched with any of their chosen schools and have been advised to access the Self-Placement platform to select a school of their choice.
To check placement status, qualified students should visit the official CSSPS website at https://www.cssps.gov.gh or https://www.cssps.org, enter their ten-digit index number followed by the completion year (e.g., for 2024, use the format 123456789024), and click “Submit” to view the placement result.
