Two people have died with several others injured following a chieftaincy-related gun battle in a renewed violence in Bawku.
Reports suggest the incident follows the return of a rival chief, Alhaji Seidu Abagre.
Alhaji Bagre is said to have been in exile since his installation in February 2023 in Nalerigu.
However, he returned to Bawku after a Kumasi High Court quashed his arrest warrant on October 17, 2024.
Tensions flared, reigniting the dispute and resulting in gunfire exchanges on the night of Saturday, October 26.
Meanwhile, there has been a heavy joint Police-Military deployment to Bawku, following another shooting incident that claimed eight lives.
